What Bites, What Doesn’t

Know what bites? Doing and saying something stupid.

Know what also bites? Having to admit to, and say your apologies for, said stupidity.

Know what helps? Knowing you’re being obedient to God and being the kind of person you know He wants you to be.

Because in the end, what really bites is self-centeredness and immaturity and lack of wisdom and self-control and the failure to behave the way you should.

And in the end, what really helps is knowing that your sin and Satan’s lies did not win this one. That your choosing to submit to the Holy Spirit’s leading (warning?) kept you out of a deeper pit. That loving God means loving God, and that means obedience and submission and the putting away of self for a higher calling.

And in the end, on any given day, the power of God “bites” (devours) sin every time.
